  3. Version 1.6 of AreaFix is a small code cleanup, with reduced memory
  4. requirements and compatibility with Fido point standards. Versions
  5. 1.2, 1.3, 1.4 and 1.5 were skipped to align the AreaFix version number
  6. with its littermates, TImport, TExport and TSet.
  7.  
  8. Version 1.1 of AreaFix has several substantial changes.
  9.  
  10. The configuration dialog now offers three options, as follows:
  11.  
  12. • Message to Sysop: if enabled (checked), sends a message to the local
  13.                     sysop anytime the areas.bbs file is altered by
  14.                     AreaFix.
  15.  
  16. • No Password for List: if enabled (checked), allows remote sysops to
  17.                     use the -L and -Q switches to get listings of
  18.                     Echoes, even if they don't have a password. They
  19.                     cannot, however, make any changes to the areas.bbs
  20.                     file without a password. To request listings without
  21.                     a password, they enter only the switches (-L and/or
  22.                     -Q) in the subject line of the message to AreaFix.
  23.                     If this option is disabled, a password is required
  24.                     for all AreaFix functions.

  26. • Write to Tabby Log: if enabled (checked), AreaFix writes a short
  27.                     status report to the Tabby Log whenever it runs.

  29. Other new features:
  30.  
  31. • AreaFix now backs up the areas.bbs file before altering it. The backup
  32. can be found in the Tabby folder under the name “areas.bbs.bak”.

  34. • AreaFix now displays its icon while it’s running.

  38. Version 1.0 of AreaFix looks in the Tabby folder for a file called
  39.  
  40. AreaPass
  41.  
  42. to use for passwords. This provides a couple of benefits:
  43.  
  44. <1> You can exceed the six-character limit of Tabby 2.0 passwords.
  45.  
  46.     - and -
  47.  
  48. <2> You can have an extra level of security by assigning a different
  49.     password for AreaFix functions than you use for normal
  50.     board-to-board communication.

  52. If there is no file called AreaPass in the Tabby folder, then AreaFix
  53. uses the Password file created by Tabby for its password source.

  55. Format for the AreaPass file is identical to the Password file:

  58. NodeID <tab> Password <return>
  59.
